April Things of Note
spring is in the air....
For me, spring truly begins in April—when the world starts to green up, and the evening light lingers just a little longer. I don’t know about you, but this is when I finally start to shake off the winter hibernation and step back into the rhythm of longer days and fresh air. So let’s dive into a few things that are bringing joy and inspiration this month.
Learning: I am trying something different this month. I began learning how to paint with watercolor using this sweet book from Emily Lex Studio. There are several different ones to choose from but I chose the flowers since it is spring. She has a free course on her website as well that walks you through the process start to finish. I assure you, I am no artist and watercolor is surprisingly forgiving and very meditative.

Watching: I watched a sweet movie on Netflix called The Life List which had me reflecting on childhood dreams and long-forgotten goals. It’s a sweet, nostalgic watch—perfect for a quiet weekend evening.

Listening: Currently tuning into The Mel Robbins Podcast, The Body Reset: How Women Should Eat and Exercise for Health, Fat Loss, and Energy. It’s packed with practical tips and science-backed insights—highly recommend if you’re looking for a spring wellness reset.
Buying: It’s Sephora sale season! I tried a sample of Crown Affair’s Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner, and I loved it. Sephora is great about offering generous samples so you can really test things out before committing. Crown Affair has a helpful chart on their site too, so you can figure out what’s best for your hair type. I already love some of their other products, and this duo is definitely joining the lineup.

Reading: Our bookclub is reading this book which has rave reviews.
“Early morning, August 1975: a camp counselor discovers an empty bunk. Its occupant, Barbara Van Laar, has gone missing. Barbara isn’t just any thirteen-year-old: she’s the daughter of the family that owns the summer camp and employs most of the region’s residents. And this isn’t the first time a Van Laar child has disappeared. Barbara’s older brother similarly vanished fourteen years ago, never to be found.
As a panicked search begins, a thrilling drama unfolds. Chasing down the layered secrets of the Van Laar family and the blue-collar community working in its shadow, Moore’s multi-threaded story invites readers into a rich and gripping dynasty of secrets and second chances. It is Liz Moore’s most ambitious and wide-reaching novel yet.” (per Amazon description)
